HOW AND WHY DID YOU GET INTO WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY?
I got into wedding photography because of a (now) really good friend of mine, David Jay. It was literally an almost overnight decision to do wedding photography and pursue it. I saw what he had accomplished, how creative and artistic his photography was, and the lifestyle that it afforded him. I had always been in love with photography, as my dad had a dark room in the house growing up and I was always so intrigued by it. I had never thought I could make a living at something I loved doing so much until I met DJ though.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN SHOOTING WEDDINGS?
I have been shooting weddings for about 5 years now and have photographed about 120 weddings so far as of January 2011!

HAVE YOU TRAVELED TO SHOOT PROFESSIONALLY?
I have traveled to 31 states and 20 countries to shoot - some fun, some for work. I am shooting a wedding in Indonesia in a couple weeks and I hopefully have a wedding in southern France this year as well!

WHERE WAS YOUR FAVORITE LOCATION TO SHOOT A WEDDING?
I love shooting on the east coast - the long, tall grass, white sand, and green water of South Carolina is unbeatable for photos and it's definitely one of my favorite places to shoot.

DO YOU HAVE ASSISTANTS OR SECOND SHOOTERS?
I have a number of assistants. I have a business manager, a photo editor, an album designer, a web designer, a client site designer, and an accountant. I love outsourcing =) I don't have only one second shooter, per say. For my first year shooting, I used a lot of friends and it varied wedding to wedding. My second year I trained another photographer and brought him to every wedding, and I did the same the third year. This last year I used a couple of different second shooters, but I shot most of the weddings by myself.

WHAT IS YOUR PHOTOGRAPHIC STYLE?
I'm an artistic photojournalist. I love good, clean shots but I also love a really artistic approach to wedding photography. I love telling the whole story as a photographer. My work is influenced by aspects of fashion, architecture, fine art, landscape work, and portraiture.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THE WEDDING TO SHOOT?
My favorite part of the wedding to shoot is definitely the recessional - when the bride and groom walk down the isle right after they've kissed. NOTHING compares to that moment throughout the whole day! I would say a close second is doing all the portraits of the bride and groom - I love that. When its a little more chill and relaxed and just the three of us - its a fun part of the day.
